Over time a water layer can form on the bottom of the storage tank containing hydrocarbon crudes. Due to this water, a possibility exists of increased corrosion. Therefore, this water will need to be periodically drained manually. By monitoring the drainage water, an operator can accurately measure the presence of hydrocarbons reducing the risk of contamination in high risk areas.
