SENSOR DETECTOR
The sensor element is based on sensitive semi conductive elastomer (silicone-based) and the detection principle is depicted below:

- Ability to absorb non-conductive liquids (HC’s or solvents)
In case of physical contact of elastomer jacket with liquid hydrocarbons or with high-concentration of VOC/fumes, the electrical resistance of the sensing element increases quickly. Sensor reaction is fully reversible as inorganic sensor material does not interact chemically with the hydrocarbon.
Once VOC evaporate from the sensing element, the electrical resistance will return to normal.
Liquid hydrocarbons can be removed using appropriate solvent (as light naphtha).




Sensing element is a coaxially co-extruded elastomeric jacket containing Carbon Black.
Sensing element is electrically insulated by the non-conductive external skin.

A periodic check can be performed in real-time on the detector by using a highly volatile hydrocarbon spray. The sensor is re-usable after desorption.
